Include Global Ruleset name in Timeline

Are there any plans to include the originating Global Ruleset name in the Incident Timeline? Currently it simply says “Triggered through the API” - it would be useful it it named the ruleset, particularly when there may be multiple Global Rulesets that feed into a single Service.

Hey Chris!

While we currently don’t include the Global Ruleset name in the incident’s timeline, you can view which global event rule was used to route an alert when viewing the alert log for the alert associated with the incident.

I’m also happy to take the feedback you’ve shared here as a feature request to our Product team! Let me know if you have any other feedback or questions.

Hi Cassie

In our environment the Alert Log doesn’t include the Global Event Rule name - it just lists the condition e.g…

Routed to [Service Name] by a global event rule where client contains TLL.

So this wouldn’t direct us to the Global Event Rule in question.

I’m aware we can add contextual notes to the Incident via the Event Rules and this is something we will be exploring. However, I would appreciate it being raised as a Feature Request.

Cheers
Chris

Hi Chris,

The “global event rule” text should be a hyperlink that takes you to the relevant global event rule. However I understand this isn’t the same as including the actual name of the global ruleset so I’d be happy to create that feature request for you.

In order to make sure I associate the request with your account, could you please reach out to us at support@pagerduty.com and reference this community post?

Hi Cassie,

I have found the global event rule hyperlink in the Alert Log, which I can confirm does open up the “Edit Rule” window. However it is a bit of a cumbersome route to get there, having to go via the Alert rather than the details being provided in the Incident Timeline.

I will raise this via support as suggested.

Cheers
Chris
